COVID-19 vaccination drive: 20,29,480 healthcare workers receive jabs since Jan 16

New Delhi: A total of 5,671 people were vaccinated in 194 sessions in the past 24 hours across the country, taking the total number of such beneficiaries to 20,29,480 in 36,572 sessions so far, Union Health Ministry informed on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, India recorded 12,689 new cases, pushing the country's COVID-19 tally to 1,06,89,527.

Besides, the country also recorded 137 fatalities in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1,53,724.

The daily recovered cases in the country continue to surpass the daily new cases. The daily recoveries have overtaken the daily new cases since last 20 days, the Ministry added.

A total of 13,320 patients recovered during the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 1,03,59,305. Now, the National Recovery Rate has further grown to 96.91 per cent.

Now, the total Active Caseload stands at 1,76,498 till Wednesday. India's present active caseload now composes of just 1.65 per cent of its total Positive Cases.

The country has conducted a total of 19,36,13,120 tests so far. Of these, 5,50,426 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

India continues to be among countries with lowest new cases and new deaths per million population in the last seven days, the Ministry added. (UNI)
