Daily Spike of nCOV cases drops to 1.73 Lakhs, 3,617 succumbs

New Delhi: India has confirmed 1,73,790 new cases of the coronavirus over the past 24 hours, with the total number of those infected reaching 27,729,247, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday.
The death toll from the disease has reached 322,512, with 3,617 new fatalities being recorded during the same period.
 
More than 25,17 million people have recovered in the country since the start of the outbreak. Also, the active caseload further declined to 22,28,724 with a drop of more than a lakh in the last 24 hours. With this, the recovery rate has increased to 90.80 per cent.
 
Also, the weekly positivity rate is currently at 9.84 per cent, daily at 8.36 per cent, less than 10 per cent for five consecutive days.
 
The number of new Covid-19 cases detected on Friday is the lowest since April 12. Maharashtra reported 1,022 new deaths while Tamil Nadu had 486. Tamil Nadu recorded over 31,000 new cases while Karnataka logged close to 23,000.
 
A total of 1,82,21,403 Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories to be administered, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday.
 
The Centre has so far provided more than 22.77crore vaccine doses to the states, the Ministry release said.
 
As per data available this morning, of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 20,80,09,397 doses.
 
As many as 4,86,180 doses are in the pipeline and will be received by the states within the next three days, the Ministry said.(UNI)
