India records 11,831 fresh Covid cases; vaccine takers now over 58 lakh

New Delhi: India recorded 11,831 new Covid-19 cases during the past 24 hours, pushing the tally of overall cases to 1,08,38,194, Union Health Ministry said on Monday.

With 84 more fatalities, the country’s death toll mounted to 1,55,080.

The second worst affected country also saw 11,904 discharges, totalling to 1,05,34,505, the ministry said.

The active coronavirus cases now stand at 1,48,609.

The number of healthcare and frontline workers vaccinated against COVID-19 crossed the 58 lakh-mark on Sunday, 23rd day of the countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program.

India is now third in the world with the highest doses of COVID19 vaccine administered, after the US and the UK, said the Ministry.

Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said 5,32,236 samples were tested on Sunday. (UNI)
