New Delhi: India on Sunday recorded 12,194 new cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, pushing the country’s caseload to 1,09,04,940, while the death toll mounted to 1,55,642 with 92 more fatalities.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the active cases rose by 996 to stand at 1,37,567.
Of the fresh fatalities, 38 were from Maharashtra, 16 from Kerala and 4 each from Punjab and Karnataka, 5 each from Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu.
The past 24 hours saw 11,106 people recovering from the deadly virus, taking the total recovery count to 1,06,11731, which is 97.32 per cent of the case tally. The fatality rate stood at 1.43 per cent. Kerala has reported the maximum number of single day recoveries with 5,332 newly recovered cases while 2422 recovered in Maharashtra in the past 24 hours.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 7,43,614 samples were tested on Friday, taking the total number of tests carried out by the body till date to 20,55,33,398. (UNI)
