India reports nearly 25k new COVID cases in 24 hours

New Delhi: COVID-19 infections continued to surge in the country as nearly 25,000 cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.
Total 24,882 fresh cases of novel coronavirus were recorded, the highest in 2021, which took the India tally to 1,13,33,728, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Saturday.Besides, 140 more fatalities were also reported, taking the death toll to 1,58,446.
 
Total 19,957 people were recovered from the virus, pushing the total number of such cases to 1,09,73,260.So far, 22,58,39,273 tests have been conducted across the country, of which 8,40,635 were done in the last 24 hours, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
 
India’s total Active Caseload has reached 2,02,022, which accounts for 1.74 per cent of total cases.So far, total 2,82,18,457 vaccine doses have been administered in the country, according to the Ministry.

Marathwada region reports 1,641 new COVID cases

The eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra state reported 1,641 fresh cases of COVID-19 during the past 24 hours, and 12 more deaths, the health authorities informed here on Saturday.
 
Details from all the district headquarters collected by UNI shows that out of the eight districts of the region, Aurangabad district was worst affected with 617 cases and six deaths, followed by Nanded with 360 new cases and two deaths, Jalna registered 253 new cases and a single death, Beed registered 163 new cases and a single death, Parbhani registered 44 new cases and a single death, Osmanabad registered 27 cases and a single death, Latur had 128 cases and Hingoli had 49 cases.

Covid cases up 1153 in Thane dist
Thane: With 1153 new cases in last 24 hours, a rally has spiked to 2,74,283 in Thane district, the authorities said on Saturday.With five fatalities, a total number of death cases has reached 6326.
 
The mortality rate was 2.31 per cent, he added.So far, 2,59,360 patients have recuperated from the infection, which took the recovery rate to 94.56 per cent. There were 8,597 active cases in the district at present, the official said.

In neighboring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count has gone up to 46,558 while the death toll is 1,207 he said. (UNI)
