Tokyo: The Japanese government on Monday approved Pfizer's anti-COVID-19 vaccine for age group of 12 to 15 years.

However, children aged between 12 to 15 years will not immediately receive Pfizer vaccine, as Japan is yet to complete the vaccination of health care workers and people aged 65 and above.
Japan authorised the Pfizer shot for people aged 16 and older in February and has agreements for doses for 97 million people as well as supply deals with US biotechnology firm Moderna Inc and British drugmaker AstraZeneca Plc.

Moderna has also released study results claiming its vaccine to be effective on 12 to 17 years olds, in addition to those aged 18 and older on whom it is currently approved for use. (UNI)
