Lowest Daily spike of 60K nCOV cases registered after 75 days

New Delhi: India on Tuesday registered 60,471 new cases, lowest in 75 days and below the 1 lakh mark for the eighth consecutive day, according to the Health Ministry's data.
While the positivity rate stood at 3.45 per cent, the recovery rate is pegged at 95.64 per cent,
As many as 1,17,525 people were discharged from hospitals upon recovery and 2,726 patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, it said.
 
Total cases now stand at 2,95,70,881 and total discharges are 2,82,80,472.Total deaths have climbed to 3,77,031, while the active cases have jumped to 9,13,378.
 
After health infrastructure was strained by the second Covid wave, states are taking strong measures in anticipation of a third wave.Till today, 25,90,44,072 people were administered anti-Covid-19 vaccines.
 
The maximum Covid cases in the past 24 hours recorded mainly from Tamil Nadu with 12,772 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 8,129 cases, Kerala with 7,719 cases, Karnataka with 6,835 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 4,549 cases.
 
These five states contain nearly 66 per cent of the new Covid cases, in the past 24 hours.
Tamil Nadu registered 21.12 per cent of the new cases in the past 24 hours.
 
Over 1.05 cr Covid vaccine doses still available with states: Health Ministry
 
More than 1.05 crore (1,05,61,861) anti-Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday.
Over 47,43,580 more will be received by them within the next three days, it added.
 
So far, the Centre has provided 26.69 crore (26,69,14,930 doses to the states. Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 25,67,21,069 doses, as per data available this morning.
 
'As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In addition, the Govt. of India has also been facilitating direct procurement of vaccines by the States/UTs. Vaccination is an integral pillar of the comprehensive strategy of the Government of India for containment and management of the pandemic, along with Test, Track, Treat and COVID Appropriate Behaviour,' the Ministry said.
 
Meanwhile, the country has recorded 60,471 new cases of coronavirus infections and 2,726 deaths in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry's data.(UNI)
