Two more Omicron cases detected in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Two more cases of Omicron variant of Covid-19 were detected in Gujarat on Friday.

With this, a total of three cases of Omicron variant have been confirmed in the state so far, although all three belong to the same family and have been found in Jamnagar.

Official sources of the state Health department said the first case of Omicron was detected on December 2 in a 72-year-old man, who returned to Jamnagar from Zimbabwe on November 27.

The variant was confirmed in his wife and brother-in-law on Friday. As a precautionary measure, they were already staying in an isolation ward.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a special review meeting regarding this new Corona variant on December 4.

The travellers, who have recently returned from the African continent and other countries, are being closely monitored.

A total of 70 new cases of Covid-19 were found in Gujarat during the last 24 hours till 5 pm on Thursday. (UNI)
