Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his nightly address that peace talks will take place with Ukraine, Europe and "definitely" the US.

"Of course, we understand the importance of America, and we are grateful for all the support we’ve received from the United States," he said in a video posted to X.

"There has not been a day when we haven’t felt gratitude. It’s gratitude for the preservation of our independence — our resilience in Ukraine is based on what our partners are doing for us — and for their own security," he said.

The statement comes days after a heated argument between Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump descended into acrimony at the White House.

Zelenskyy left the White Housewithout signing a deal that he had hoped would give the US access to rare minerals in exchange for security guarantees.

"Everyone is united on the main issue — for peace to be real, we need real security guarantees. And this is the position of all of Europe — the entire continent. The United Kingdom, the European Union, Türkiye," Zelenskyy said.

On Sunday, Zelenskyy said he believed he could salvage ties with the US. He dismissed the idea that the US would stop supporting Ukraine militarily because as "leaders of the civilized world," he said, Washington would not want to help Russian President Vladimir Putin.
