This holy plant, found all over India is seen in two varieties ? the green Lakshmi Tulsi and the purple colored Krishna Tulsi. This small herb offers a lot of benefits as has been mentioned in the ancient science of Ayurveda.

Respiratory problems

Chewing holy basil leaves helps in relieving minor colds and cough. A decoction of tulsi leaves with ginger and honey can be beneficial in the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, cold and flu. You can boil some tulsi leaves to make a gargle for a sore throat.

The tulsi herb helps in reducing the risks of cardiac disease, reducing blood pressure and cholesterol levels. The herb contains Vitamin C and antioxidants like Eugenol that protects the heart from free radicals.
