Hanuman Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman (Bajrangbali), is celebrated every year with great devotion and enthusiasm on the full moon (Purnima) of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Chaitra. In 2025, Hanuman Jayanti will be celebrated on Saturday, 12 April.

It is believed that worshipping Lord Hanuman on this day removes obstacles, grants peace, strength, and protection, and brings divine blessings into one’s life. Devotees observe fasts, visit temples, and perform special prayers on this auspicious day.

What to Do & What to Avoid on Hanuman Jayanti

To receive the full blessings of Hanuman ji, certain do’s and don’ts must be followed with devotion and respect:

What to Do:
  • Observe Brahmacharya (celibacy) on this day to purify body and mind.
  • Wear red clothes during Hanuman ji's puja.
  • Offer Hanuman ji his favorite items such as: Gram dal, Boondi laddoo, Imarti.
  • Eat only fruit-based satvik food if you're fasting.
  • Visit Hanuman temples and chant the Hanuman Chalisa or Sundarkand.
  • Treat everyone respectfully, especially guests or people at your door.
 
What Not to Do:
 
  • Do not use Charanamrit in Hanuman ji’s puja.
  • Avoid wearing black or white clothes—stick to red or saffron tones.
  • Do not worship a broken idol of Hanuman ji—ensure the murti is intact.
  • Do not eat salt if you’re fasting for Hanuman ji.
  • Avoid sleeping during the day if you are observing a fast.
  • Stay away from meat, alcohol, and any form of tamasic food on this day.
