Advertiesment
Lord Krishna with Radha
Phulera Dooj is regarded as one of the most sacred and auspicious days in Hindu tradition. The festival is dedicated to the divine love of Lord Krishna and Radha Rani. It is celebrated with special grandeur in Mathura and the Braj region, where temples come alive with devotion and floral celebrations.

The word “Phulera” means decorating with flowers or showering flowers. On this day, devotees celebrate a unique “Flower Holi,” where Lord Krishna and Radha Rani are offered showers of fresh blossoms instead of colors. At the famous Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, a magnificent flower shower takes place, drawing thousands of devotees who witness the divine spectacle.

Phulera Dooj 2026 Date

In 2026, Phulera Dooj will be celebrated on Thursday, February 19.

What To Do On Phulera Dooj?

Phulera Dooj is known as the “Festival of Flowers,” and several important rituals and traditions are observed:

Beginning of Holi Festivities: In the Braj region, this day marks the symbolic beginning of the Holi celebrations. Devotees shower each other with flowers, celebrating joy and divine love.

Abujh Muhurat: Phulera Dooj is considered an “Abujh Muhurat,” meaning any auspicious activity—such as marriage, housewarming (Griha Pravesh), or mundan ceremony—can be performed without consulting a priest for a specific muhurat.

Highly Auspicious for Weddings: Falguna Shukla Dwitiya is considered extremely favorable for marriages. It is often regarded as one of the biggest wedding days of the year, as no astrological defects are believed to affect ceremonies performed on this date.

Significance of Phulera Dooj

Symbol of Radha-Krishna’s Divine Reunion: According to legend, when Lord Krishna stayed away from Radha for a long time, nature itself began to wither. Upon His return, Krishna played Holi with Radha using flowers, and the environment blossomed once again. The day symbolizes the triumph of love and harmony.

Celebration of Spring: Phulera Dooj marks the farewell to winter and the joyful arrival of the spring season.

Relief from Astrological Obstacles: Astrologically, worship on this day is believed to help those facing delays in marriage or difficulties in romantic relationships.
