NEVER offer these 9 things to Lord Shiva, it will anger Bholenath

Monday is considered an auspicious day to worship Lord Shiva. Worshipping Shiva on this day is believed to bring good fortune, financial stability, desired life partner and job. While praying to Shiva, devotees offer multiple things on Shivaling like Bel Patra, Dhatura, and milk among other things. However, there are certain offerings that are considered inappropriate or even prohibited while worshiping Lord Shiva.

Here are 9 things that should not be offered to Shivlinga:

Tulsi Leaves:

According to legend, Tulsi was a devoted wife named Vrinda to demon king Jalandhara and Lord Shiva killed him. In grief, Vrinda cursed Lord Shiva and reborn as a Tulsi plant. Also, Tulsi is a form of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Vishnu's wife, thus it should not be offered to Lord Shiva.

Kumkum or Sindoor

Kumkum or Sindoor is not offered to Lord Shiva because it is associated with marital status, while Lord Shiva is a symbol of detachment.

Flowers

Flowers like Ketaki, Kaner, Lotus, Champa, Kevada, Dupharika, Hibiscus, Malti, Jasmine, Kunda, Juhi are not offered to Lord Shiva.

Coconut

Coconuts are considered "Shriphal" and are a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi. Hence, it should not be offered to Lord Shiva.

Broken rice

Broken rice is considered as inauspicious and should not be offered to Lord Shiva.

Red sandalwood

Red sandalwood powder is not offered to Lord Shiva. Only white or yellow sandalwood paste is acceptable.

Til

Offering til to Lord Shiva is also prohibited because til is considered to born from the dirt of Lord Vishnu.

Conch water

According to legend, Lord Shiva killed demon named 'Shankhachud' with his trident and his body burn to ashes. The conch shell originated from the ashes of his body. Thus Lord Shiv is not offered water from the conch shell.

Turmeric

Turmeric represents prosperity and doesn't have cooling properties; hence it is not used for worshipping Lord Shiva.
