Fake helicopter ticket booking racket for Vaishno Devi, Kedarnath and Bedrinath Yatra busted, 4 held

New Delhi: Delhi Police have busted a fake helicopter ticket booking module and arrested four accused including the mastermind of the racket.

According to police, the syndicate was operating from different parts of India including West Bengal, Bihar and Firozabad and they created a fake website for helicopter ticket booking for Vaishno Devi, Kedarnath and Bedrinath Yatra, said KPS Malhotra, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) of Special Cell.

The accused have been identified as Deepak Thakur, Jeki Prasad Kahar, Pappu Singh and Vikash kumar Bhagat.

The accused booked tickets through fake websites for the tourists who intended to visit religious places like Vaishno Devi by helicopter. Over 100 complaints with the same modus operandi were analyzed and after analysis, the suspected phone numbers and bank account details of the mastermind and website developer were traced from Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh and a huge number of hard discs and two laptops and five mobile phones were recovered, said Malhotra.

The police received a complaint regarding some unknown persons who cheated the complainant, on the pretext of booking helicopter tickets for visiting Mata Vaishno Devi temple shrine, Jammu. During the enquiry, the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) was analyzed and about 112 complaints were found linked to the same syndicate, in which innocent people were cheated by the alleged persons through the same modus operandi. On technical analysis, the locations of suspected persons were located in Bihar, West Bengal and Firozabad, UP.

On the basis of the technical surveillance, the teams conducted parallel raids in different parts of the country and arrested four accused. (UNI)
