Jammu: As many as 150 pilgrims have tested positive of COVID infection on their arrival at Katra—the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi cave Shrine situated in Trikuta Hills of Reasi District in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
An official said that as per the National Health Mission data, among the cases of infection being reported in Jammu division, many of them are travellers arriving to Jammu and Kashmir from different parts of the country.
“In Katra town, during testing as many as 150 pilgrims were tested positive in two days and all were travellers who reached by train,” he said.
In June last week, when the cases declined in the Jammu division, positive cases were reported among travellers in Katra town.
On Jul 4, 75 travellers were tested positive and on Monday, 72 more cases were reported in Katra, he added.
“Those tested positive are either being returned or sent to a quarantine centre established at Panthal by the Shrine Board,” said an official. (UNI)
