Shimla/Reckongpeo: The Kinnaur Kailash Yatra 2025 has been temporarily suspended due to continuous heavy rainfall and extensive damage to the pilgrimage route, the district administration announced on Wednesday.

According to Amit Kalthaik, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Civil), Kalpa, key sections of the Yatra trail have been declared unsafe.

Footbridges over the Tangi Valley and Kangyarang rivulets have been swept away by strong currents. Several other segments of the route have become dangerously slippery, and multiple incidents of landslides have been reported.

In light of these hazardous conditions, the administration has decided to halt the Yatra until further notice. “The safety of the pilgrims is our topmost priority. All devotees currently en route have been stopped at safe locations and are being provided with necessary assistance,” said SDM Kalthaik.

He also appealed to devotees and travelers not to plan any journeys to Kinnaur Kailash until the situation improves and official clearance is given for resumption of the Yatra.

The district administration has assured full safety arrangements for those already in the region and is closely monitoring the weather and route conditions. Repair work and safety assessments are underway but may take time due to ongoing rainfall.

Pilgrims are advised to stay informed through official channels and avoid relying on unverified information.

The Kinnaur Kailash Yatra is a significant spiritual journey, attracting devotees from across the country. However, the administration emphasized that cooperation from the public is essential in managing the current situation and ensuring the safety of all involved.
