Chamba: Annual Manimahesh Yatra that was to start next week has been temporarily postponed due to damage to the Chamba-Bharmour and Hadsar road following heavy landslides in Pranghla and Aala nullah areas of Himachal's Bharmaur sub-division since last night.

Bharmour SDM in a message to the yatris on Thursday advised not to proceed towards Manimahesh road for their own safety.

The yatra was to commence from August 19 and continue till September 2.

Registration is mandatory. Passengers must register themselves before reaching Bharmour. Traveling without registration can lead to deportation from any base camp, an official said.

The Yatra is deemed a tough trek, but is rewarding on completion with the most beautiful scenery – a serene lake in the backdrop of the snow-covered Kailash Mountains. (UNI)
