Sri Jagannath temple to be closed for the devotees on Dec 31, Jan 1

Puri: Sri Jagannath temple will remain closed for the devotees on December 31 and January 1.

The decision to close the temple for the devotees for two days was taken at a meeting of the Chhatisha nijog, the apex body of all servitor associations of the Srimandir held here on Friday.

This apart it is also decided to increase the duration of darshan time by three more hours. Earlier it was from 7.30 AM to 9 PM which will be revised from 5.30 AM till 9.30 PM for darshan.

Temple sources said efforts are on to facilitate entry of differently abled devotees for darshan of Trinity through North gate.

The ritual schedule for offering of Pahili bhog from Dhanu sankranti to Makar sankranti from December 26 to January 15 has been finalized.

In this ritual offering of fresh harvested crop grains including rice and other food grains are offered to the deities.

Temple chief Administrator Dr.Kishan Kumar presided over the meeting attended by collector Samarth Verma and members of Chhatisha nijog. (UNI)
