Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated every year to felicitate one of the most revered saint in Hindu, Sikh and Buddh religion. In 2018 its 641 th anniversary of Guru Ravidas. On this day devotees wake up early in the morning and take a bath in Pious river. Mostly it is being celebrated in shrines and Gurudwaras’. According to historians Guru Ravidas (1420-1520) was born at Goverdhanpur in Varanasi. In Goverdhanpur it is being celebrated at a very large scale where devotees pray and utter heroic couplets.
 

He was born in tannery family, wh were the then considered untouchables. He adopted Budha drama , Sikh Dharma, Hindu Dharma respectively. He represented in North India for Bhakti Andolan during 15 th -16 th century. He was a messenger for his followers and made them familiar with the religious and social facts. He was a calm, tender hearted saint and mystic poet of North India who spread brotherhood, peace, happiness. Guru Ravidas literary works include Panchwwani in Hindu Literature, Adi Granth in Sikh Dharma, the forty poems which are full of sagacity, the topics deal majorly with untouchability, equality. He is a symbol of tranquility. He was truly called as a messiah mainly for the lower caste people. (WD)
