Beirut blast: Over 100 dead, President declares two-week emergency

Beirut: Lebanon President Michel Aoun on Wednesday declared a two-week state of emergency following a massive explosion in Beirut that killed over 100 people and injured nearly 4,000.

The massive explosion on Tuesday in capital Beirut of Lebanon shook the world when about the 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate that was stored in a hangar at the city's port for six years, exploded in back to back two blasts.

Prime Minister Hassan Diab called for a day of mourning on Wednesday.

The cause of the explosion is yet to be ascertained. (UNI)
