Islamabad: Even as Pakistan on Wednesday went to the vote to choose a new government, the northwestern city of Quetta experienced a powerful blast that killed at least 26 people.

According to the reports reaching here, a police van stationed near a polling station was the target. Approximately 30 injured have been shifted to the hospitals.
Islamic State claimed responsibility for this blast, according to the group's AMAQ news agency.
The group said the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber, but did not provide further detail or evidence for its claim.
