In an official statement her family said, “In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie. Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined.”

“Cheslie embodied love and served others, whether through her work as an attorney fighting for social justice, as Miss USA and as a host on Extra. But most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague – we know her impact will live on,” it further added.

Kryst was crowned Miss USA in 2019.

Just before the extreme step on Sunday, Kryst posted an Instagram. "May this day bring you rest and peace," she wrote alongside a photo of herself.

Kryst also posted a congratulatory message to Miss North Carolina USA Morgan Romano and Miss North Carolina Teen USA Gabby Ortega, telling them, "Best of luck at Miss USA and Miss Teen USA!"

Born in 1991 Jackson, Michigan, Kryst grew up in South Carolina. She attended the University of South Carolina and in 2017 where she obtained her Bachelor's in law, and graduated from Wake Forest University School of Law.

According to the firm's website, Cheslie's job required her to represent clients in federal and state cases relating to many business disputes. She also represented municipalities in local government matters, including extensive and complex reviews of policies and procedures for programs funded by grants for the federal government.

She also founded the women's business apparel blog White Collar Glam. Kryst also worked as a correspondent for entertainment news site ExtraTV.

In an official statement the company said "Our hearts are broken". Cheslie was not just a vital part of our show. She was a beloved part of our Extra family and touched the entire staff. Our deepest condolences to all her family and friends." (UNI)
