A man who visited hospital for a medical check was shocked when doctors found a fly inside him and it was still alive.
The 63-year-old patient, from Missouri in the US, had visited hospital for a colon cancer screening.
When doctors put a camera inside his body, they spotted the live insect on his intestines wall.
The patient had consumed pizza and lettuce more than 24 hours before his check-up. The doctors believe the fly may have come from the green vegetable. However, doctors are not certain and the patient didn't recall seeing a fly in his food.
Speaking in the American Journal of Gastroenterology, doctors said: "This case represents a very rare colonoscopic finding.[It is a] mystery on how the intact fly found its way to the transverse colon."
