Islamabad: An accountability court on Monday handed ousted Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif seven years in jail, a report in Dawn newspaper website said here.
The report further said that Mr Sharif has also been fined $2.5 million in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption case. However, the former Prime Minister has acquitted him in the Flagship Investments reference, the report said.

Accountability Judge Arshad Malik while reading out the short order said that there was no case against Nawaz in the Flagship reference, the report said.

"Soon after Nawaz reached the Federal Judicial Complex in Islamabad, PML-N supporters gathered outside the premises began stone pelting police and trying to force their way into the court complex, DawnNewsTV reported. Police retaliated with tear gas shelling and baton-charging the supporters," the report said.(UNI)
