Washington The relationship between incumbent US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris became strained after the November election which Harris lost to Republican candidate Donald Trump, the Wall Street Journal said, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Post-election communications between Biden and Harris who replaced him in the presidential race when he dropped out in July have sometimes been “frosty,” the report said adding however that the two do not show it in public.
The report said that First Lady Jill Biden stopped liking Harris after she criticized the president for some of his policy proposals during a Democratic debate during the 2020 campaign.
In public, Harris repeatedly supported Biden after attacks on his age and ability to perform his duties. However, according to the report, in the final weeks of the 2024 campaign, her team expressed frustration with Biden’s public appearances.
White House spokesperson Andrew Bates and Harris’ spokesperson Kristen Allen denied that there were any difficulties between the president and the vice president.
