Kartarpur: Pitching strongly for improved India-Pakistan relations and for peaceful co-existence in the spirit of Guru Nanak Devji’s teachings, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday said ‘Kashmir’ remains only a major issue of difference between the two countries.

“Hamara masla ek hae Kashmir ka .... (The only issue between us is Kashmir),” Imran Khan said after laying the foundation stone for the much talked about and long awaited Kartarpur Corridor.

“Human race has reached moon. Tell me what is the issue that human beings cannot solve. Can’t India and Pakistan resolve one issue (Kashmir),” he said in presence of Indian Ministers Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Hardeep Singh Puri - two Sikh cabinet ministers in the Narendra Modi government.

“Sirf irade waley leadership chahiye border ke do no taraf (We only need leadership with strong determination on both sides of the border),” the Pakistan Prime Minister said adding  that “Let us not wait for Navjot Singh Sidhu to become Prime Minister of India to have peace”.

Congress leader and Punjab Minister Sidhu, who was also present on the occasion, earlier lauded Imran Khan for his role in materialising the Kartarpur Corridor.

Pakistan Prime Minister said during his visit to India, number of times he has been told in the past that while political parties in Pakistan favour improved Indo-Pak relations, the Pakistani army is against it.

He also said that the strains in Indo-Pak relations have been largely due to “mistakes” by both India and Pakistan. (UNI)
