Islamabad: Pakistan President Arif Alvi on Sunday accepted Prime Minister Imran Khan's recommendation for dissolution of National Assembly.

Imran Khan's public address came shortly after Qasim Khan Suri, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, prorogued the session deeming the no-trust vote as "unconstitutional".

However, the PM had skipped the session.

He said, "The NA speaker has rejected the move intended at changing the regime and I congratulate the entire nation on it. "Pakistan came into existence on 27th Ramzan, and this nation will not let such a conspiracy get successful."

He had then submitted a recommendation to the President to dissolve the assemblies.

He said, "In a democratic society, the democrats go to the people, elections are held and the people decide who they want to rule.”

He also urged the citizens to prepare for elections. "No foreign power or any corrupt elements, but only you have to decide for this country."

According to Geo news, an official notification dissolving the Assembly has been issued.

The elections will be held with 90 days. Taking to Twitter, Special Assistant to the PM Dr Shahbaz Gill has confirmed that the assembly has been dissolved. (UNI)
