Washington: The US military has decided to cancel 300 million dollars aid to Pakistan over what it calls as Islamabad's failure to decisively take action against militants.
Pentagon spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Kone Faulkner said Pentagon aims to spend the fund on other urgent priorities, if approved by Congress, a report in British online newspaper The Independent said on Sunday.
The decision came months after US president Donald Trump suggested that the Washington has repeatedly helped Pakistan, only to be rewarded with “nothing but lies and deceit”.
The Pentagon spokesman said that earlier this year, the US Congress stripped 500 million dollars from Pakistan.
The Trump administration has claimed that Islamabad is granting safe haven to insurgents who are waging a war in neighbouring Afghanistan. (UNI)
