New Delhi: In a boost to the Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha election, BJP's Lok Sabha MP from Churu Rahul Kaswan on Monday joined the grand old party in the presence of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge at his residence here.
Welcoming Kaswan into the Congress, Kharge said he was happy that the former fought against feudal people and joined the party.
He said if people with such ideology keep joining the Congress party, then the BJP will be left nowhere. The Congress President further added that the party will always welcome people like Rahul Kaswan.
Meanwhile Kaswan said he was joining the Congress in accordance with the public sentiments of people of Churu Lok Sabha constituency.
He alleged that under the BJP government, the voice of farmers was continuously being ignored and he was associating himself with the Congress family so that he can work on issues related to the people.
Earlier in the day, Kaswan before joining the Congress, in a post on X, said he was resigning from the primary membership of BJP and also as the Member of Parliament. He thanked the National President J P Nadda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of Churu.
