Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi, who is richer?

Despite being the prime minister for two consecutive terms and providing houses to four crore poor in the country in the past 10 years, Narendra Modi neither has a house of his own nor does he own a vehicle.

According to an affidavit filed by the PM along with his nomination, he has movable and immovable assets of more than Rs 3.02 crore, which include fixed deposits of Rs 2,89,45,598 in the State Bank of India. Along with this he has 52,920 cash in hand of which Rs 28,000 has been withdrawn from the election bank account.

The PM has Rs 73,304 deposited in NSC branch of SBI in Gandhinagar and Rs 7,000 in Shivaji Nagar branch in Varanasi. He has Rs 9,12,398 in National Savings Certificate, the affidavit said.

Modi has four pieces of gold rings weighing 45 grams worth Rs 2,67,750. In the financial year his projected Income Tax return is Rs 3,33,179.

According to  affidavit, deposits in banks rose to over Rs. 2.86 crore from Rs. 1.27 crore.

As per the affidavit he has no criminal case pending against him.

However, Congress MP from Wayanad Rahul Gandhi has declared his total assets worth over Rs 20 crore in his nomination for the upcoming general elections.

Of these, Gandhi has movable assets worth Rs 9.24 crore and immovable property is valued at around Rs 11.14 crore.

According to the affidavit, the former Congress president has stock market investments of Rs. 4.3 crore, mutual funds deposits of Rs. 3.81 crore, and Rs. 26.25 lakh in a bank account

The affidavit shows a total income of Rs.1,02,78,680 during the financial year 2022-23.

He also possesses gold bonds worth Rs. 15.2 lakh. He has also invested in National Savings Schemes, Postal Savings, insurance policies and other places worth Rs. 61.52 lakh.

Rahul Gandhi has also declared agricultural land, owned jointly with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in Delhi’s Mehrauli, along with office space in Gurugram valued at Rs. 11 crore.

Gandhi also declared liabilities worth Rs 49.79 lakh in his election affidavit.

According to the affidavit, the gross total value of movable assets of Gandhi has increased by 59 per cent in five years.
