On 25 November, a sacred religious flag will be hoisted atop the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, displaying symbols that hold deep spiritual significance. This date marks Vivah Panchami, the auspicious day when Lord Ram and Goddess Sita were married. Falling on Tuesday this year, the occasion will be celebrated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisting the ceremonial flag on the temple’s main spire. Preparations for the event are in full swing.

The flag designed for the Ram Temple is unique—not only in its construction but also in the symbolic emblems it carries. It features three important symbols from the Treta Yuga.

About the Flag to Be Hoisted on the Ram Temple Spire

The flag is being crafted by a company in Ahmedabad.
It is made from special parachute fabric and silk threads, ensuring durability against sunlight, rain, and strong winds.
  • The flag measures 22 feet in length and 11 feet in width.
  • It will be mounted on a 42-foot-high flagpole installed on the temple’s peak.
  • The pole is fixed on a 360-degree rotating chamber using ball bearings, allowing the flag to remain secure even in high-speed winds.
  • Its design is inspired by the flags used during the Treta Yuga, as described in ancient scriptures.
  • The flag’s color is saffron, symbolizing dharma, sacrifice, and courage—and representing the essence of the Sanatan tradition.

Three Sacred Symbols on the Flag

The flag features three major symbols:

1. Om (?)

Represents spirituality, eternity, cosmic energy, and the ever-evolving nature of Sanatan Dharma.

2. Surya (Sun)

Symbolizes Lord Shri Ram’s lineage, the Suryavansh (Solar Dynasty). It embodies valor, brilliance, strength, and divine radiance.

3. Kovidara Tree (Koovidaara Vriksha)

An ancient royal emblem associated with the Ayodhya dynasty. It is mentioned in the Valmiki Ramayana and the Harivamsha Purana, marking it as a symbol of heritage and royal lineage.
