Hariyali Teej, one of the most auspicious festivals dedicated to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva, is being celebrated with great devotion on Sunday, July 27. Today, married and unmarried women observe a strict fast, perform traditional rituals, and pray for marital bliss or a good life partner. However, while observing this sacred vrat, there are some important do’s and don'ts one must keep in mind.

If you're planning to observe the Hariyali Teej Vrat in 2025, here are the things you must avoid to maintain the sanctity of this divine ritual:

Things to Avoid During Hariyali Teej Vrat

1. Avoid Sleeping During the Day

Fasting women should refrain from sleeping during the day. Instead, engage in bhajans, chanting, or reading religious texts.

2. Do Not Wear Black-Colored Clothes

Wearing black on this day is considered inauspicious. Women should choose green, red, or yellow outfits.

3. Do Not Break the Fast Midway

Once you resolve to keep the Teej fast, do not break it without proper completion.

4. Practice Celibacy Throughout the Day

Fasting women are advised to maintain celibacy and pure thoughts on the day of Teej. This enhances the spiritual merit of the fast.

5. Stay Away from Negative Emotions and Thoughts

Avoid arguments, anger, jealousy, and any form of negativity. The day should be spent with devotion, patience, and positivity.

6. Avoid Cutting Nails or Hair

It is advised not to cut hair or nails on the day of the fast. This act is considered inauspicious and may reduce the purity of the vrat.

7. Cover the Head and Tie the Hair

While performing puja, both married and unmarried women should tie their hair neatly and cover their heads with a dupatta or saree pallu as a mark of respect and tradition.
