Kashi is regarded as the spiritual heart of India, where even the smallest incident is believed to carry deep significance. Recently, a rare and divine event left devotees amazed at the Kashi Vishwanath temple — a white owl, considered to be the vehicle (vahan) of Goddess Lakshmi, was spotted sitting on the golden peak of the temple.
The incident took place on Monday night, around 10 pm, just after the Shayan Aarti. Devotees present in the temple premises were left spellbound when a white owl suddenly appeared, and sat right on the temple’s golden shikhara. The sight created an emotional and spiritual atmosphere, with many devotees believing it was not just a bird but a messenger of the Goddess herself. By morning, however, the owl had flown away.
As per reports, the moment was captured on camera by the temple’s PRO, Anand Shukla. Since then, the incident has been the talk of the town, with many devotees calling it a highly auspicious sign.
Spiritual Significance
In Hindu scriptures, the owl is considered as the sacred vehicle of Goddess Lakshmi, the divine goddess of wealth, prosperity, and fortune. Spotting a white owl is considered even more auspicious, as it symbolizes pure blessings, prosperity, and spiritual progress. Devotees believe that the combined presence of Baba Vishwanath and Maa Lakshmi’s divine messenger indicates positive transformations and good fortune ahead.

It is said that whatever happens in Kashi resonates with the entire world, as Lord Shiva here is worshipped as Vishwanath – the Lord of the Universe. Hence, even rare natural or divine occurrences in this holy city are believed to hold global significance.
