In Hindu astrology, Saturdays are considered significant for worshiping Lord Shani and Lord Bhairav. Observing a fast on Saturdays helps alleviate sorrows and troubles. Shani rewards good deeds and punishes bad deeds, serving as a karmic balancer. A well-placed Shani in one's birth chart bestows Rajpad (high-ranking positions) or Rajsukh (royal comforts and happiness). To avoid any negative consequences and attract positive energies, certain activities are best avoided on Saturdays:

Activities to Avoid on Saturdays

1. Drinking Alcohol: Avoid consuming alcohol, as it's believed to cause trouble and disrupt life.

2. Traveling Certain Directions: Refrain from traveling in East, North, and North-East directions. If travel in the East direction is unavoidable, then eat ginger and take five steps backward starting the journey.

3. Sending a Girl to Her In-Laws: Avoid sending a girl to her in-laws' house on Saturdays.

4. Buying Certain Items: Avoid buying oil, wood, coal, salt, iron or iron goods, leather, black sesame, black shoes, pen, paper & broom.

5. Don’t Cut Nails or Hair: Refrain from cutting hair or nails on Saturdays.

6. Consuming Certain Foods: Avoid consuming milk and curd on Saturdays. However, adding turmeric or jaggery may mitigate any negative effects. Also refrain from consuming eggplant, mango pickle & red chillies.

7. Dishonest Behavior: Avoid lying, as it can lead to losses.

8. Insulting Others: Refrain from insulting poor, scavenger, blind, or disabled.
