On 12 June 2025, former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who considered 1206 his lucky number, died in the tragic Air India Flight AI?171 crash near Ahmedabad. That date—12/06—was the same as his cherished “1206”.

Rupani believed in the number 1206 for a long time, and it adorned the registration plates of all his vehicles—his scooter to cars and even official CM car. Sadly, 12 June 2025 (12/06) became the date of the fatal crash—turning his so-called “lucky” number into a tragic coincidence when he was en route to London to meet his wife and daughter.

Rupani served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from August 2016 to September 2021, before resigning ahead of the 2022 state elections.

The Air India Plane Crash

light AI?171—a Boeing 787?8 Dreamliner—took off from Ahmedabad bound for London Gatwick, carrying 242 people on board. Within minutes, it crashed into a hostel near BJ Medical College, resulting in a massive loss of life. Among the deceased were many passengers and residents on the ground. Only one passenger survived. A thorough investigation is ongoing to find out what went wrong.
