Srinagar:Two militants were on Saturday killed in an encounter which ensued after security forces launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Official sources said that following specific information about presence of militants, a joint CASO was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K police, Army and CRPF at Dangarpora in Pulwama in morning.
However, they said when security forces were moving towards a particular area, the militants hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons. ''The security forces retaliated, ensuing in an encounter,'' they said, adding two unidentified militants were killed in the exchange of fire.They said the operation was still going on when the reports last came in.
Soldier killed, another injured in accidental blast in Kupwara
Srinagar, May 2 (UNI) A soldier was killed and another was injured in accidental grenade blast in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara, official sources said here on Saturday.
They said a grenade exploded accidentally during a training exercise near the Line of Control (LoC) in Karnah sector in Kupwara.
''Two soldiers were injured in the blast,'' they said, adding the wounded were immediately evacuated to Army's 92 base hospital.However, they said one of the injured succumbed.(UNI)
