Srinagar: Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in the woods of Kokernag in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on Tuesday.Army sources told UNI that following specific information the presence of militants, a joint search operation was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, Army and CRPF in the woods at Pahlipora Larnoo in Kokernag in Anantnag.
However, when security forces were moving towards a particular area in the forest, the militants hiding there, fired at them with automatic weapons, which was retaliated, ensuing in an encounter, they said.Two militants were killed in the exchange of fire, it added.The operation was still going on when the reports last came in, the sources said, adding that additional security forces have been rushed from nearby camps to seal the area to foil any attempts by the militants to escape.(UNI)
