New Delhi: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday filed charge sheet against three Kashmiri students who were possessing arms, ammunition, and explosive in their hostel of CT Group of Institutions in Jalandhar.
The charge-sheet has been filed in the Mohali Special NIA Court against Zahid Gulzar, Yasir Rafiq Bhat and Mohammad Idriss Shah under sections of 120B, 121A, 122 of IPC; Sections 18, 18B, 20 of UA (P) Act; Section 25 of Arms Act and Sections 3, 4, 5 of Explosive Substances Act.
Initially the case was registered with Punjab Police at PS Sadar, Jalandhar and was subsequently taken up for investigation by NIA.The accused namely Zahid Gulzar and Yasir Rafiq Bhat, both from Avantipora, were arrested on October 10, 2018 from a hostel room of CT Group of Institution at Shahpur in Jalandhar.
One AK-56 Rifle along with two magazines having 27 live rounds each, one Pistol (.30 bore) along with two magazines and 31 live rounds and one Kg explosive powder were recovered from the possession of Gulzar and Bhat in their room.
The third accused arrested namely Mohd Idris Shah was studying at St Soldier Institute, Jalandhar. During investigation, other accused Sohail Ahmad Bhat who is also from Awantipora and was studying at Universal Group of Institutions at Lalru in Punjab was also arrested in the case.
The Central terror probe agency investigation revealed that the arrested accused were cadres of Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH), a Kashmir based terrorist organisation with a Pan-Islamic ideology.
AGH was run under the command of its self-styled chief Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Zakir Musa, a resident of Noorpora in Awantipora. The probe agency also revealed that the arms,ammunition and explosives were collected by the accused under the direction of Zakir Musa for furthering the designs of AGH to commit terror strikes on sensitive targets.
"During investigation, it was revealed that in furtherance of this conspiracy, accused had collected two consignments of arms, ammunition and explosives from Gurdaspur and Amritsar in the months of August and October 2018. The designs of the terrorists were, however, defeated due to timely arrest of the accused?, the NIA said in a statement. Further investigation continues in respect of the other accused persons including AGH chief Zakir Musa, the probe agency added.(UNI)
