Bengaluru: A senior woman geologist in the Mines and Geology Department was allegedly found murdered at her residence here on Saturday night, according to police.
The deceased has been identified as 43-year-old KS Pratima. The murder took place after she returned to her residence around 8 pm at Doddakallasandra under the Subramanyapura police station limits.
As per the police, the death was due to strangulation.
Reacting to the incident, Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara said that the police have the clue and are finding out who is behind the murder and the reason behind it.
"The police have got a clue. They are investigating the case. And they will make an announcement... After an investigation is conducted, who is behind the murder and for what reason the murder took place will be known," he told reporters here on Monday.
Pratima's elder brother informed the police about the murder after he visited her house Sunday morning, as she did not respond to his phone calls Saturday night, DCP (South) Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad told reporters.
He said that Pratima has been living alone in the house for the last four to five years, and prima facie there has been no theft of any jewelry or valuables. (UNI)
