The national capital's iconic Rajpath will now be known as ‘Kartavya Path’ after the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) approved a proposal to rename the iconic stretch.
1. The road runs from Rashtrapati Bhavan on Raisina Hill through Vijay Chowk and India Gate to National Stadium in Delhi.
2. The three-kilometer stretch was constructed during the British rule.
3. It was designed by British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens.
4.It was earlier known as Kingsway. It was named in the honor of George V.
5.After Independence in 1947, the name of Kingsway was changed to Rajpath.
