New Delhi: Amid rising concerns over the safety of children in schools, a six-year-old girl student was allegedly molested in the toilet of a South Delhi school. Police official said on Thursday that Rakesh, who was appointed in the school three months ago, has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) Act and sent to judicial custody. The official said the incident happened on Wednesday when the girl went to the toilet and called a female attendant for help.

Instead, Rakesh came and allegedly molested the child. On reaching home, the victim narrated the incident to her parents, who filed a complaint with the police. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had issued guidelines on September 12 for ensuring safety of children in the schools, post the murder of seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur at Ryan International School, Gurugram, in suspicious circumstances. The Board had reiterated all school authorities to keep strict vigilance in their CBSE-affiliated school premises and ensure proper safety measures for the kids. (UNI)
