Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot, Alka Lamba and 18 other AAP MLAs disqualified in 'office of profit'case

New Delhi: Delhi Transport Minister and Najafgarh MLA, Kailash Gahlot and Chandni Chowk MLA Alka Lamba are among the high profile names featuring in the list of 20 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators who were disqualified in office-of-profit case.

The other big names include-- Nitin Tyagi MLA from Laxmi Nagar, Burari legislator Sanjeev Jha, Dwarka MLA Adarsh Shastri, Jarnail Singh from Tilak Nagar and Jangpura MLA Praveen Kumar.

The names of other disqualified AAP MLAs are--Anil Vajpayee from Gandhi Nagar, Avtar Singh from Kalkaji, Madan Lal from Kasturba Nagar, Manoj Kumar from Kondli, Naresh Yadav from Mehrauli, Rajesh Gupta from Wazirpur, Rajesh Rishi from Janakpuri, Sarita Singh from Rohtas Nagar, Som Dutt from Sadar Bazar, Sharad Kumar from Narela, Shiv Charan Goel from Moti Nagar, Sukhbir Singh from Mundka, Vijendar Garg from Rajinder Nagar.

In a big blow to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi, 20 MLAs of the party were disqualified in office-of-profit case with President Ram Nath Kovind approving the Election Commission's recommendation in this regard.

The Election Commission on Friday recommended to President Ram Nath Kovind disqualification of 20 AAP MLAs in the 'office of profit' case .In August 2017, the MLAs appealed to the Delhi High Court asking it to not allow the EC taking up the Delhi lawyer's petition. They argued that their appointments to the post of parliamentary secretary were already quashed, in 2016.(UNI)
