Air quality in Delhi remain in “severe” category as AQI stands at 430

New Delhi: The air quality on Saturday in Delhi remained in the “severe” category, as the Air Quality Index stood at 430, according to India Meteorological department.“The air quality is likely to improve further but remain in Very Poor category on December 26 and 27 because of the predominant surface wind is likely to be coming from Southeast/East direction of Delhi,” IMD said.

The concentrations of PM 2.5 and PM 10 stood at 242 in the `severe` and 387 in the ` very poor ` category respectively, according to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR).

Meanwhile, the air quality of neighbouring cities in the NCR region like Noida and Gurugram remains in the 'severe' and in 'very poor' category as well.According to data of Central Pollution Control Board, (CPCB) the air quality in Faridabad (at 412), Gurugram (358) Ghaziabad (360) and Noida sector 1, (413)

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in the city on Saturday morning settled at 7 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The day will remain mainly clear, and the maximum temperature is likely to settle at 23 degrees Celsius, the weather department said.The relative humidity was 94 per cent at 8:30 am.(UNI)
