All missiles from Pakistan intercepted, drones fired at Jammu blocked (VIDEO)

Jammu: Panic gripped Jammu city late on Thursday evening when powerful explosions were heard from different parts of the city. Air raid sirens went off and there was a complete blackout when drones launched by Pakistan were seen as blinking red lights in the sky.

Defence sources here said that eight missiles from Pakistan were directed at Satwari, Samba, Ranbir Singh Pura and Arnia.

They said that all the missiles were intercepted and blocked by air defence units.

“Drones were sighted at multiple places along the western front – confirmed to be hostile, and are being effectively engaged by own air defence systems,” he informed.

Defence sources further said that Pakistani drones along the western border at various locations were also reported and added that they were effectively engaged by the Indian Armed Forces.

Sources denied the inputs with respect to suicide attack by terrorists in Pathankot or Rajouri, terming it completely false. They also said there was no movement of tanks on either side.

Meanwhile, after a nearly two-hour-long blackout, power supply was restored in Jammu city.

Amid the prevailing tense situation, authorities on Thursday announced that schools, colleges and universities will remain closed across Jammu and Kashmir on Friday and Saturday.
