New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday chaired a ‘high level’ meeting with Home Secretray Rajiv Gauba and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Kashmir in Parliament complex here.

The meeting was also attended by Intelligence Bureau Chief Arvind Kumar, RAW chief Samant Kumar Goel and senior Home Ministry officials.

“The Government is reviewing the security scenario in Jammu and Kashmir as terror threats are looming over the Amarnath Yatra”, an official in the Home Ministry told UNI.

The evacuation of the Amarnath Yatris and tourists from the valley is major challenge for the Government as of now, the official said.

Mr Shah is likely to visit Kashmir after current Parliament Session is over.

Intelligence agencies have also alerted the Government and security agencies that a large number of militants are waiting at launch pad across the border to sneak into  Indian territory.

Panic gripped the Kashmir Valley after the J&K government issued a security advisory on Friday for tourists and Amarnath pilgrims to curtail their pilgrimage at the earliest.

Following the advisory, the tourists and Amarnath pilgrims started leaving the Kashmir Valley on Saturday, even as J&K Governor Satya Pal Malik said there was no need to panic.

The Army has also foiled an attack by Pakistan’s Border Action Team on a forward post along the Line of Control in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, killing five to seven intruders, according to a defence spokesman. (UNI)
