Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University(AMU) Alumni Association in Qatar held a virtual meeting to express their condolence on the recent deaths of AMU staff, alumni and connected families due to Covid-19.
The condolence meeting was held on May 16 in Doha virtually, said a press statement issued by the organisation here on Thursday.
" As the Covid-19 pandemic upends normal life, it has also changed the way people express grief over the death of their near and dear ones with many taking the virtual route to pay condolences from safe confines of their homes," the statement said.
The condolence meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Hafiz Abdul Rab Umri Madani followed by its Urdu translation and dua e Maghfirat at the end. Dr Nadeem Zafar Jilani delivered a keynote address on condolence meeting
Prof Tariq Mansoor (Vice-Chancellor) Aligarh Muslim University expressed emotions for the demise of university staff.
He said that their thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families. They hope that the family can draw strength in this hour of grief and said the Aligarh Muslim University and the Alumni across the world stand shoulder to shoulder with the family in this difficult time.
Prof Mansoor also informed that the families of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Teaching and Non-Teachingemployees, who lost their lives in the Covid pandemic, the university administration has speed up the process to provide them with their legitimate entitled benefits, earliest possible of time.
Vice-chancellor of the university, Tariq Mansoor, informed that the Chief Minister has assured all possible help in the fight against Covid-19, especially with supply of life-saving drugs, including Remdesivir and Oxygen supply.
VC Prof Mansoor informed that of the nearly 50 deaths, three lost their lives in a private hospitals in Aligarh and four died outside Aligarh.(UNI)
