Anantnag encounter: 3 militants, jawan, civilian killed

Srinagar: Three militants, a jawan and a civilian were killed in a fierce encounter during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on Friday.
''We could locate three bodies and efforts are being made to retrieve them, Director  General of Police (DGP),'' Dr S P Vaid said.''We have also lost a jawan while a civilian died and a woman injured in the encounter,'' he said.
 
He said on a tip-off about the presence of three to four militants, Army, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation at Khiram in Anantnag in the wee hours.
 
However, when the area was being sealed, the militants hiding there opened fire, Dr Vaid said, adding that security forces also retaliated, ensuing in an encounter.The operation was going on when the reports last came in.Dr Vaid said operation against the militants will continue in the state.(UNI)
