Another batch of 146 Indians evacuated from Kabul, being brought home from Doha

New Delhi/Doha: A second batch of 146 Indian nationals who were evacuated from Kabul and taken to Doha, were being repatriated to India on Sunday, the Indian Embassy in Qatar said here on Sunday.

The Embassy tweeted “Bringing Indians back from Afghanistan".

“2nd batch of 146 Indian national, who were evacuated from Afghanistan to Doha, being repatriated today to India. Thank everyone involved for their support,” the Indian Embassy in Qatar tweeted.

On Saturday, a batch of 135 Indians who were evacuated from Kabul and taken to Doha were repatriated to India.

The embassy said that they provided consular and logistic assistance to the Indians to ensure their safe return to India, and thanked the Qatar authorities and others for helping in the evacuation.

“1st batch of 135 Indians who were evacuated 4m Kabul to Doha over past days being repatriated tonight to India. Embassy officials provided consular and logistics assistance to ensure their safe return. We thank Qatar authorities and all concerned for making this possible,” the Indian Embassy in Qatar tweeted on Saturday.

Doha has become a major transit point for flights leaving Kabul, with most of the US Air Force flights landing in Doha in transit.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had also met Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, in Doha on Friday and had a useful exchange of views on Afghanistan.

“Met Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani @MBA_AlThani DPM & FM Qatar during my stopover in Doha. Had useful exchange of views on Afghanistan,” Jaishankar had tweeted on Friday. (UNI)
