Another godman under scanner, 40 girls rescued from ashram

New Delhi: Delhi Commission for Women(DCW) along with the child welfare committee (CWC) and Delhi Police on Thursday rescued around 41 girls from an ashram, ''Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya'' in Rohini's Vijay Vihar area here.The ashram is reportedly headed by Virender Dikshit. 

DCW chief Swati Maliwal said that the panel along with members from CWC inspected the Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya and rescued 41 girls, who will now be counselled.
''High Court summoned Baba Virender Dev Dikshit. It is only through the efforts of the High Court that such a huge operation could be possible. Remaining 150 girls are also below 30 and should be removed from the Ashram,'' Ms Maliwal said in a tweet.

According to a police official, a police team was sent to assist the CWC and the girls were handed over to the competent authorities.Earlier, the HC formed a panel consisting of DCW chief and lawyers to inspect the premises of the said institute where girls and women were allegedly kept in illegal confinement.According to Maliwal, the ashram where the girls were kept was in a bad shape and had a frightening atmosphere and the girls were kept in such a way that they were unable to talk.
