Another record 3.46 lakh nCoV cases & 2624 deaths reported

New Delhi:India registered 3,46,786 fresh cases of COVID-19 and 2624 casualties in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day spike in terms of cases and deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic, according to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday.
The fresh addition took the total tally to 1,66,10,481 while the death toll soared to 1,89,544.
 
Maharasthra registers 66,836 fresh cases of COVID-19
 
Meanwhile, during the past 24 hours, 66,836 fresh cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the Maharasthra state, taking the total number of infections to 41,61,676. The state also registered 773 more deaths, taking the death toll to 63,252.

In view of the rising number of cases, the state government has imposed strict restrictions till May 1 under the initiative of 'break the chain’, exempting emergency services.
 
Covid situation continues to remain grim in the eight districts of Marathwada region of Maharashtra as the region recorded a spike 8,093 cases and 173 fatalities in the past 24 hours, according to the health authorities.

Maharashtra police enforce inter-district travel ban
 
As per the inter-district and inter-state travel ban order, all the seven borders entrances of Aurangabad district have been closed by the police.
 
Also, vehicles carrying essential services are being thoroughly inspected.
 
E-pass facility has been introduced for citizens traveling from Aurangabad district to other districts for urgent reasons,said police.
 
An appeal has been made by the Office of the Commissioner of Police and the Office of the Superintendent of Police to submit an online application on the website Covid19.mpolice.in. and get permission to travel.
 
Applicant should keep hard copy as well as soft copy during the travel to their destination, they added.
 
It may noted Aurangabad district one of the worst affected across in the state due to spread out Covid pandemic through out in part district.(UNI)
